Natural gas is an efficient, safe, colorless and odorless gas. Natural gas supplied to your home is mixed with an additive to provide a warning in the event of a leak. A harmless chemical called mercaptan gives the gas a distinctive odor. Most people describe the smell like rotten eggs or hydrogen sulfide-like odor.

Older steel underground lines often require replacement because rusted out pipes cannot be effectively repaired. Contaminants deteriorate steel piping, the walls thin and threaded joints start leaking which can be dangerous. Our plumbers can install a new polyethylene gas line that is impervious to soil contaminants.

If a new gas line from the meter to your home is indicated, we will install a new properly-sized line to supply your home or businesses with plenty of gas pressure for all your gas-powered devices to function at their highest efficiency. A gas relay is recommended when the yard line from the meter to the house has been properly tested and does not hold a required pressure test. A permit and inspection may be required on gas relay installations.
